        Thomas Bauer, born in Bonn, Germany, began to play the flute at the age of 12. Thomas completed his Bachelor of Music with distinction in Flute Performance from the University of Victoria. At UVIC, he studied flute with Suzanne Snizek for four years. Thomas has also studied privately with Mary Byrne and has performed in master classes for Jeanne Baxtresser, Renée Siebert, Susan Hoeppner, Christie Reside, Richard Volet, Cynthia Ellis, Tadeu Coelho and Joanna G‘froerer. He has also participated in the Domaine Forget International Music and Dance Academy, Julius Baker Masterclass, Victoria Flute Workshop and played in the Canadian Wind Orchestra from 2010-2011.

        

        Thomas has been a recipient of numerous scholarships including the Phillip T. Young Memorial Scholarship in Music, the Naden Band of Maritime Forces Pacific Scholarship in Music Performance and the UVIC Performance Scholarship in Music. In 2015, he played the Canadian premier of the Elliot Carter Flute Concerto with the Sonic lab ensemble. Thomas represented British Columbia in the National Performing Music Festival in 2017. On top of having nine years of private flute and piccolo teaching experience, he was the assistant conductor for the Early Bird and Academy Flute Choirs in 2017-2018. Currently, Thomas performs with both the High Notes Flute Choir and the Band of the Fifth Field Regiment. In 2021, he has also started performing with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra.
